| | No Fuss Cabbage Rolls
Adapted from a
recipe from Heinz Canada.
No steaming, no
stuffing or no rolling -- this recipe delivers the great taste and goodness
of traditional cabbage rolls without all the work! Preparation takes a mere
10 minutes. Packaged coleslaw mixtures, sold in grocers' produce sections,
eliminate shredding your own cabbage.
2 Cups Shredded Cabbage
1/2 lb. Extra Lean Ground Beef
1/2 Large Onion, Chopped
1 Clove Fresh Garlic (Smash, let sit 15 min)
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1/4 tsp. Rosemary
1/4 tsp. Basil
1/3 Cup Uncooked Rice
1 3/4 Cups tomato juice
3 Tbls. Chili Sauce (Ketchup will do),
(I would omit this, it's a
little too much tomato for me)
- In medium 5-cup
casserole, layer a third of the cabbage, half of each of the meat, onion,
garlic salt, salt, pepper, rosemary, basil and rice. Pour 1/2 cup tomato
juice over layers. Add a second layer of the six ingredients and then
another 1/2cup of tomato juice.
- Top with
remaining cabbage. Stir chili sauce into remaining tomato juice; pour over
casserole. Bake covered, in 325F oven 11/2 to 2 hours.
Serves 4.
